THINGS TO Know Before You Go
Sunburst Ski Hill is proudly located in Kewaskum, Wisconsin, 35 minutes outside of Milwaukee and 40 minutes southeast of the Fox Valley. Need Directions?
Hours vary depending on the activity and day of the week. For all hours of operation, including special hours on holidays, view our hours of operation here.
We wish! Although Wisconsin is pretty chilly, the weather isn’t cold enough for us to stay open all year. Typically, our season lasts approximately 12 weeks, from December through March. However, we do offer off-season venue rentals for your summer events. Plus, you’ll be seeing some new summertime programming in the coming years to make Sunburst a year-round destination for Wisconsin adventure.
In accordance with the Wisconsin Skier Safety Act, Sunburst has several different waivers that must be completed before you can head out on the snow. To maximize your time on the hill, we encourage you to fill out the applicable waivers before your arrival. If you need assistance with any of these waivers, simply visit a cashier or head to the Group Sales Office and speak to one of our friendly Guest Service Team Members.. They’d be glad to help you out!
Waivers are good for one season. While we encourage waivers for every participant, you have the option to sign a No Release of Liability. If you choose to sign a No Release of Liability, additional fees apply for each visit.
If you haven’t reserved online, head to the Clocktower! This convenient location serves as your one-stop shop for everything you need for a fun day on the hill. Buy your ski and board lift tickets, rent equipment, and reserve lessons — the only thing you CAN’T do here is buy tubing tickets, which are available for purchase in the Tubing Cafe.
At Sunburst, we want to make winter fun affordable for everyone. To best plan for our staffing, we encourage advance ticket sales for everyone. Purchasing your tickets in advance can save you money. When you buy tickets early, we offer discounted rates compared to day-of purchases. This helps you avoid long lines and ensures you get the best possible value. Tickets are still available the day of your visit, but you’ll pay a higher rate than advanced-sale tickets.
For the safety of all of our guests, we do not allow spectators on the snow. However, we do offer a spectator wristband for our Wunderberg Area (beginner area) ONLY. Please visit our Group Sales Office and speak to a Guest Service Team Member for more information.
New this season, Sunburst is going CASHLESS! We take credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Gift Cards. There is a Cash-To-Card machine available on the mid-level of the Chalet that allows you to turn your cash into a Visa Card (for no fee). This card can be used anywhere at Sunburst and anywhere off-site that accepts Visa. However, most of our offerings can be purchased online. You can also pre-load your season pass with cash – a great option for parents who want to give the kids some spending money for food & beverages onsite.
Kids 10 and under ski for $10 with the purchase of a full price paid adult ticket.
Yes. To thank you for your service, we offer a 20% discount on daily lift tickets.
We do not allow pets. That being said, service animals are welcome, but for the safety of our guests and the service animal, they are not allowed on the snow.
In Wisconsin, we know a thing or two about dressing for winter. So layer up — here are a few tips that can help make your experience comfortable and stress-free.
- Dress in warm layers.
- Waterproof or water-resistant snow pants and jacket, gloves, hat, scarf, a good pair of socks, as well as a base layer and mid-layer are recommended.
- Synthetic fabrics, wool-blend, or waterproof clothing is highly recommended. No cotton clothing if possible.
- Consider wearing sunglasses or goggles if you are concerned about cold wind in your eyes.
No. Sunburst does not permit the use of snowskates, snowfeet, or other modifications.
Our rentals include skis, snowboards, poles, boots, and helmets. Our rentals do NOT include personal wear. If you just need a helmet, you can rent one for $5 — goggles, while not available for rent, can be purchased in our Main Ski Shop. Reserve your rentals online or at the Clocktower!
While we do not have changing rooms, we do have lockers available for rental on either a daily or full-season basis. Small daily use lockers are quarter operated and can be found in the Rentals Building and Tubing Cafe (first come first served). Large lockers are available for rent for the duration of the ski season for $75. See the Group Sales office for more information.
For all group inquiries, head to our group sales page and fill out a request.
If you’re staying at the hill for the weekend, we recommend booking your stay at the West Bend Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton or the TownePlace Suites Milwaukee West Bend.
After a day on the hill, we know your stomach may be grumbling. Luckily, we’ve got a few different places where you can catch a bite to eat, including two concession counters where we serve burgers, hot dogs, and your favorite American-style food. The top level of our Ski Chalet offers a newly renovated bar where adults can take in the views while enjoying an old-fashioned or two.
We do not allow carry-in food or beverage at Sunburst Ski Hill. Feel free to visit our Chalet or Tubing Cafe to purchase a variety of food and beverage during your visit.
Safety is paramount at Sunburst, which is why we have a few requirements we ask all guests to follow. For instance, all snow tubers are recommended to be at least 42 inches tall, and each rider must use their own tube. We do not allow tying tubes together.
Sure thing! Our tubing hill boasts over 45 chutes, a 90-foot drop in elevation, and over 1200 feet of pure fun, allowing tubers to reach speeds up to 30 mph. Take a ride down and experience it for yourself.
We love that Sunburst and the Ice Age Trail border each other and work together for outdoor enthusiasts. However, given construction and the large-scale equipment that frequent our parking lots during the off-season, our parking lots are closed whenever Sunburst is closed. For trail parking, please continue along Ridge Road where you will find a designated Ice Age Trail parking lot.
You can get your tickets ahead of time online here!
If you have a question that isn’t answered here, feel free to contact us or reach out to one of our managers at info@skisunburst.com. If you’re at the hill, just head to the Clocktower and we’ll be happy to help you!
