Hill Descriptions & INFO

Say Hello to the Hills

BEGINNER RUNS

Wunderberg

The friendliest of all the hills! Dubbed after the original namesake of our resort, this run is the first stop for newbies. This sloped hill is filled with beginner terrain that’s easy to navigate and features a rope tow and carpet lift.

Zig Zag

The next natural step after mastering Wunderberg. Hone your skills here before you move on to new terrain — Zig Zag is the perfect hill for beginner and intermediate skiers.

Frieda's Run

Take a leisurely ride to the bottom of the hill. Named after the owner’s beloved mother, this beginner’s run offers multiple fall lines and the best snow on the hill. Whether you’re a beginner building up your skills or an intermediate skier wanting a warm up, this run is the easiest way down!

INTERMEDIATE RUNS

Second Chance

Sunburst’s only south-facing hill. This intermediate run is wide open and features a steeper grade on skiers’ left. If you’re a beginner, keep right to start building your confidence — once you’re ready, head down the left to experience Second Chance in a new light! This run turns into Zig Zag halfway down so you get the best of both worlds.

Edelweiss

Meet Sunburst’s fan favorite! Perfect for intermediate skiers, this run has been around since 1961. It’s our oldest and largest hill! With a wide, steady pitch, it’s the best hill to achieve high speeds. Cruise down Edelweiss just once and it’s sure to become one of your favorites, too.

Ridge Runner

Snowboarders, this one’s for you! Though it’s great for beginner skiers and boarders alike, Ridge Runner marks the entrance to our stellar terrain parks. With great snow and a variety of rollers, small jumps, and small features, it’s hard to get “board” of this run!

EXPERT RUNS

Eco Alley

Named after our owner’s three daughters — Emily, Caroline, and Olivia — this hill takes it to the next level. Narrow and steep, this expert run has some real rock ‘n roll to it! Moguls love its terrain, multiple fall lines, and the chance for three or four good slalom turns.

Werner's Way

This advanced run pays homage to the owner’s father, Werner, who skied for the German national team in the 1950s. Serving as our primary ski race run — and crowned the best ski run in the Milwaukee area — this hill features a steep skiers’ left, double head walls, and a fallaway. Plus, it’s great for catching some air!

The Other Way ◆◆

If it’s not Werner’s way, it’s the Other Way! When you stand at the top of our steepest and most challenging hill, you won’t even be able to see the bottom. This hill is home to the motorcycle hill climb every June, but in winter it’s open to thrill-seeking skiers. It’s as steep as any run in the Midwest!

TERRAIN PARKS

Ridge Runner

Build on the basics at this terrain park! Designed for beginner and intermediate boarders, this diverse area has a variety of rollers, small jumps, and small features with great snow.

South Park

Perfect for intermediate to advanced boarders, this terrain park is the perfect place to practice some sweet tricks. With jumps, spines, kickers, and a variety of rails — box rails, single rails, and double barrel rails — there’s so much to enjoy!
